The technology market for 2025 looks quite healthy, based on the Tech Trends Forecast report presented at the official start of CES on Sunday.
The forecast by CES organizer Consumer Technology Association (CTA), presented by Brian Comiskey, senior director, innovation and trends, and Melissa Harrison, vice president marketing and communications at the CTA, showed 2025 industry retail revenue projected at $537 billion, an increase from $520 billion in 2024.
Of that, $353 is hardware and $184 billion is software.
The trends report highlighted the growth of artificial intelligence in all aspects of technology.
For example, 64% of U.S. consumers use AI tools shopping online and 40% are more likely to purchase with AI personalization, according to the report.
In addition, the report found that 93% of U.S. adults are familiar with generative AI and 61% use AI tools at work.
The theme of mobility also was highlighted, noting electrification, connectivity, autonomy are involved, citing electrified ecosystems of Scout Motors, BYD Battery, Blink charging and AI e-bikes.
Connectivity examples included Blackberry, Continental and Qualcomm and for autonomy, Aeva, Mobileye, Waymo and Xpeng Aeroht, a maker of flying vehicles in China.
Examples of mobility innovation included Komatsu, Caterpillar and Volvo Group.
The CTA report also noted that smart homes, a staple at CES for the past several years, included innovations from Samsung, Narwal, Tuya and Pawport.
Health care and longevity were also included in the trends report.
For example, 80% of U.S. consumers consider smart home technology as age tech and 52% own at least one of the top 10 perceived age tech products.
Wearables, another mainstay CES technology, was cited as a move to healthier living, with the examples of onMed CareStations, Withings BPM Pro 2 and the Whoop wearable.
