Singapore startup Atlan has raised $105 million in a series C funding round to provide businesses with greater control over their data infrastructure.

Founded in 2018, Atlan developed a data governance platform designed to help data practitioners uncover insights from disparate sources for use in building and training AI models.

GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, led the round. Snowflake, Meritech Capital and Datadog were joined by existing investors Salesforce Ventures and PeakXV Partners.

The series C funding brings Atlan’s total capital raised to $206 million.

The startup reported that its revenue grew more than seven times in the last two years, recording a 400% enterprise sales growth in Q1 2024.

“Over the past year, boards have consistently asked their chief information officers and chief data officer about their AI road maps, who have realized that the main hurdle isn’t AI models but the lack of AI-ready data: data enriched with business context, trust and security,” said Prukalpa Sankar, Atlan’s co-founder. “Atlan is addressing this by building the control plane for the data and AI stack, integrating trust and context into the digital fabric.”

The Atlan platform acts as a virtual hub for data, letting engineers more easily sift through a business’ entire data stack for relevant insights.

It boasts integrations with collaboration tools like Slack as well as Snowflake’s data warehouse, allowing staff to find insights from data stored across an enterprise’s entire environment.

“Across roles, structures and platforms, no two organizations handle data the same way,” said Varun Banka, an Atlan co-founder. “We built a solution that unifies data across warehouses, lakehouses, vector databases, business intelligence tools and AI agents. In doing so, Atlan empowers data teams to leverage the entirety of their data at high velocity and scale by ensuring its quality, accuracy and governance.”

Ralph Lauren, Cisco and Unilever are among the businesses using the platform.

Other customers include Fox, News Corp and Hubspot.

“Data is key for improving customer experiences in the AI era and Atlan is the only platform that helps us deliver this value to HubSpot customers from day one,” said Ashfaq Mohiuddin, HubSpot’s vice president for enterprise data and AI. “With the open and extensible foundation, our technical team can build applications and govern our data ecosystem.”
