For the AI Business Podcast's very first episode, we interviewed Mishcon De Reya's Chief Strategy Officer, Nick West, to gain insight into how AI is being used in the legal sector.

Law isn't necessarily a field you'd attribute to the deployment of cutting edge technology, yet certain firms are looking at AI and trying to figure out how they can adopt it into their business strategies. How can AI help lawyers in their everyday tasks today, and how will this new technology aid them in the future?

It's a perplexing question, and one worth covering, which is why we reached out to Mishcon De Reya's Chief Strategy Officer, Nick West, who'll be speaking at the AI Summit in London, to discuss with us how they are using AI today, and how he sees it evolving the legal sector moving forward.

Mishcon De Reya LLP is a British law firm, known for offering their clients the highest quality legal services, and they are one of the most forward-thinking firms working in the industry today, which is why it was no surprise to learn how 'bullish' they are on AI, as Nick West told us on multiple occasions during our interview.

As we mentioned above, Mishcon de Reya is famous for offering their clients excellent legal services, which explains their slogan, ‘It’s business. But it’s personal’. However, one of the big worries surrounding AI is that it'll eliminate that human touch and replace many people's jobs.

This was one of the areas we discussed with Nick, who explained that yes, jobs will be lost, but AI will be able to complete the more mundane everyday tasks that lawyers spend a lot of time on, thus freeing their time to concentrate on the vital aspects of their work, such as talking to their clients.

You can listen to Nick's thoughts on AI in the episode of the AI Business Podcast below. Please, don't hesitate to like and subscribe to the podcast on Soundcloud and iTunes.
