At AI Summit Austin, the grandmaster and IBM look back at this pivotal moment for AI and how far it's come since then

In 1997, the world witnessed a milestone in the age of AI when IBM’s Deep Blue supercomputer beat the reigning world chess champion, Garry Kasparov.

The match brought both AI and chess to the mainstream. A quarter of a decade on, the world has changed significantly, driven by continual advancements in technology.

But what have we learned from the rapid development of AI? And what role does it – or should it – play in our society?

At this year’s AI Summit Austin, taking place Nov. 2 to 2 in Austin, Texas, Kasparov will be reunited with IBM for a fireside chat.

They’ll be sharing their perspectives on the landmark breakthrough of AI at the time; how far we’ve come over the last 25 years; and what the future could hold for AI.

The session, Deep Blue vs. Garry Kasparov: 25 Years On, will be on Nov. 3 at 9:15 am.
