Free ChatGPT Users Can Now Generate Images
OpenAI broadens access to its DALL-E 3 image generator though there is a rigid limit on how many visuals users can create
Free ChatGPT users can now finally generate images using the chatbot after the feature was locked away behind a paywall.
Previously, access to OpenAI’s DALL-E line of image generation models was only available to users who signed up for ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise premium services.
Free users can now create custom images using the chatbot.
ChatGPT free users now have access to the most powerful of OpenAI’s image models, DALL-E 3, which offers high-quality visual outputs and the ability to understand nuance from inputs.
However, there is a catch: they’re limited to just two images per day.
It’s the latest update to the free version of the chatbot after OpenAI announced in June that it would be widening access to previously locked-away features, including the ability to create your own GPTs and more intuitive vision and voice capabilities.
ChatGPT doesn’t even require signup anymore either with OpenAI saying earlier this year it wants to “make AI accessible to anyone curious about its capabilities.”
Want more than just two images? You’ll have to pay, with ChatGPT Plus costing $20 a month.
There is however a wide variety of free image generation tools available, with other options including Adobe Firefly, Runway, open source option Midjourney and Microsoft Designer's Image Creator.
