Part of the country's national AI program

A business matchmaking platform has been launched to facilitate access to Taiwanese AI companies.

The AI Tech Business Matching Platform, a website initiated by the executive branch of the Taiwanese government, comprises a business directory starting with 50 companies, with plans to grow to more than 100 globally.

The platform is part of the AI Next program organized by the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, which has been promoting the Taiwanese AI ecosystem since 2018.

AI Business is the official partner of the program’s website launch.

Gaining access

On the platform, users can search for vendors by technology, such as deep learning, big data analysis, image recognition, speech recognition, algorithms, cloud computing, edge computing, or machine learning.

Searches can also be executed by vertical market, such as healthcare, manufacturing, transportation, education, and cyber security; the platform also contains updates on AI news, events, and insights.

A range of categories are already represented by local businesses. For example, Viscovery features computer vision and machine learning for retail applications, such as AI image recognition for smart, self-checkout systems.

In healthcare, Heroic-Faith Medical Science uses AI to diagnose acute respiratory symptoms in COVID-19 patients, and Coretronic is developing an advanced navigation solution for autonomous forklifts.

Other Taiwanese AI companies on the platform include Beseye Cloud Security, Huijia Health Life Technology, Suscom Computer Engineering, and Wellgen Medical.

The tech matching platform, free to users, is being run by the 4,000-member Taipei Computer Association, which also runs the Computex trade show, the world’s largest computer hardware event.

The platform is part of the AI Taiwan Action Plan initiative launched in 2018 to “sharpen Taiwan's advantages, prioritize innovation and real-world implementation, and develop software and hardware in tandem, thereby injecting greater momentum into Taiwan's industries.”
