OpenAI is doubling the number of messages ChatGPT Plus users can send using its most advanced large language model.

Subscribers to the $20-a-month premium version of ChatGPT can now send 50 messages every three hours using GPT-4.

The free version of ChatGPT uses an older and less powerful large language model, GPT-3.5. It has a token limit of 4,096, the same as ChatGPT Plus. The premium version lets subscribers use both GPT-3.5 and GPT4, which was unveiled in March.

ChatGPT Plus users can also access data analysis tools following the recent addition of Code Interpreter. OpenAI gave premium subscribers access to a plugin tool allowing ChatGPT to execute code and not just generate it.

OpenAI also announced this week that it is extending support for gpt-3.5-turbo-0301 and gpt-4-0314 models in the OpenAI API until at least June 13, 2024. The models were scheduled for sunset on Sept 13, 2023. However, the decision to extend support came following developer feedback.
